Job Purpose

The Accountant is responsible for supporting the Accounting team in delivering timely, accurate, and consistent financial information that informs critical decision-making by senior management and outside consultants. This role plays an essential part in upholding Pleasant Valley Corporation's standards of financial integrity and operational excellence, ensuring all reporting and financial data are prepared with precision and consistency.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Tax Reporting: Gather, analyze, and prepare sales tax information, utilizing historical and current financial data for senior accounting review.
  • Invoice Accuracy Review: Review customer revenue invoices and subcontractor costs for accuracy and relevance of financial data.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger and conduct scheduled or ad hoc account analyses.
  • Accounts Payable and Credit Reconciliation: Prepare weekly accounts payable invoices and monthly credit card reconciliations, ensuring accurate coding and entry for senior review.
  • Year-End and System Knowledge: Support year-end review processes with external CPA firms, and develop expertise in Sage 100 and PVC Connect software modules to streamline data flow.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management preferred, with 1-3 years of relevant experience; OR 3-5 years of experience without a degree.
  • Accounting Background: Minimum of one year of accounting experience in a progressive organization.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced skills in MS Excel required for data analysis and reporting.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in financial data review and reporting.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial information and prepare comprehensive, clear reports for senior accounting review.
